After I came back from lunch, my colleagues warned me that our “Level 2 colleague” was looking for me since she wants me to log off from the station I was using. At the back of my mind, I was thinking “The nerve of that person.”

My manager went on leave so I was using her station as that station is not reserved for anyone.

Then I got a call from my senior manager and she was looking for the “Level 2  colleague.” Here’s how the conversation went…

… Snr. Mgr: Is your “Level 2 colleague” there?
Me: She’s not here.
Snr. Mgr: I need your “Level 2 colleague” to use that station coz we will have a client session. That’s your manager’s station. Why are you using that station?
Me: I’m following the mid shift schedule and whenever I find a vacant station, I use that station.
Snr. Mgr: Ah, ok. I need your “Level 2 colleague” to use that station coz she’ll be needing the IP phones from that station. Can’t you just switch stations with her.
Me: Ok. …

What da??? I never knew that our workstations are off limits now to our level. With how she asked me the question, I felt insulted. I felt like I’m being reprimanded for something that was never even laid out in the first place. That station was for anyone’s use. Her line of questioning was really uncalled for. I just hope that being a Senior Manager, she’d be more cautious and careful with her word choices.
